If you ever played Footballidentity (Football Identity), you know it wasn’t just another football game.
It was a world.

What Was Footballidentity?
Footballidentity was a browser-based football MMO that allowed players to create their own footballer and live out a complete career — from an anonymous lower-league player to a star of the biggest stadiums.
You played matches in real time, trained, chose your playing style, changed positions, negotiated with clubs, and built your reputation. But what truly set Footballidentity apart from other games was its community.

Community Above All
For many players, Footballidentity was never just a passing form of entertainment.
It was daily competition and the closest thing to real football an online game could offer.
Footballidentity wasn’t about controlling a team — it was about being one player among 22 real people on the pitch, where teamwork, positioning, and trust mattered more than raw stats.
It was a game where David could beat Goliath — through knowledge, tactics, and patience.
- Players connected with people from different countries
- Rivalries and friendships were formed
- Endless discussions took place about tactics, balance, and game development
It was a place where you didn’t just click through menus — you truly lived as a footballer.
Why Talk About Footballidentity Today?
Years after the game shut down, one question still keeps coming up among fans:
“What if Footballidentity came back?”
The Fan Revival Project is not an announcement of a new game, nor a promise.
It is an attempt to show that interest still exists — and that the community never truly disappeared.
What Is the Footballidentity Fan Revival Project?
This project was born out of love for the original game and a desire to preserve the memory of a unique piece of online football history.
The goal is simple:
- to reconnect former players
- to document experiences and memories
- to show that a real, living community still exists
No false promises. No marketing smoke.
What Comes Next?

- player memories
- the mechanics that made Footballidentity special
- ideas on how a modern Footballidentity could look

If you were ever part of that world — or if this type of game interests you — you’re in the right place.

I miss this game, used to play before and after school, i started it just before it went down but i still had fun playing the test matches, hope it comes back.
Hey Leo, really appreciate your comment. Those test matches had a special kind of energy — simple, yet unforgettable. It’s incredible how many people still remember those days so vividly. We’re glad you’re here keeping those memories alive with us.
Nem acreditei que haveria essa possibilidade, mas assim que recebi a noticia me cadastrei, pois seria muito bom poder reviver os tempos de glorias do fid… Ja estou divulgando para o pessoal que jogou comigo naquela epoca. Morten agradece.. rsrs
Dear Dyego, we can’t promise that at this moment, but we will do our best!
Thank you for your support!
It was a wonderful game. I miss it a lot during those years. I remember what an excellent Bulgarian society we built. I played in World Championships. I became the world champion in U25 and second in U21. I played in the Serbian, Scottish, Italian, Irish and Bulgarian leagues. I was the president of FID Asia. In two seasons we built an active Indian League and an Indian national team that participated in the World Championship. If there was time, the other championships and national teams from Asia would have developed as well. There were prerequisites for this. I met many people from all over the world. I still keep in touch with some of them. It was an incredible experience. Every match was a great experience. I miss it!
This is beautiful! Thank you for your comment, I hope that someday we will be in a situation to allow you to continue where you left off.
Is there a chance it will happen soon? Is there anything I can do to help?
Damn… The memories… Even today, I speak with my friends about this amazing game, and how sad it is that it was shut down. Never seen better football game than this, yet a lot of them are still rolling somehow, while this one died. I remember playing this on 2 occasions. Once in high school, where I’d literally use my pocket money and run after last class to manage to get on time for the match (around 2009), and later (around 2011) where I finished high school, still didn’t worked, so I spent countless amount of time in this game. Making blog posts as a “journalist”, and been an SD player (most wanted position at that time), later managing team as well, once I got to know the people from the game and gained trust about my seriousness (received FID coins from my FA to get another character slot). Was also lucky that serbian league (my country) had such an active community, and did a league reset (only U18-U19 league existed), so I could easily fit in and play (no lacking skill points due the reset), and discuss everything on my language (since my english was so damn bad back then) on forums, or speak on TeamSpeak back then with my teammates. I know people back then who had families and played this game, and I’m pretty sure most of them would still come back if FID makes a big comeback! Same applies for myself, even tho I’m over 30yo now
